Dr. Stephanie Joo

Optometrist

A Bay Area native, Stephanie Joo grew up attending Cupertino schools and participating in various programs and lessons across town. After receiving her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley in Molecular and Cell Biology, she continued on to complete her Optometry doctorate at UC Berkeley.  During that time, she interned at the San Jose V.A. clinic as well as a number of community clinics, and specialty clinics focusing on ocular disease. She was also one of the first interns in the newly formed Myopia Control Clinic at UC Berkeley.

Upon graduation, Dr. Joo began practicing part-time at De Anza Vision Center, and teaching part-time at U.C. Berkeley's School of Optometry. After Dr. Choy's retirement in 2020, Dr. Joo now sees patients full-time at this office. She has served on the Board for the Alameda and Contra Costa Counties Optometric Society and continues to be an active member of the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Joo sees patients of all ages, including infants 12 months and older. She has a special interest in myopia control, and is well-versed in modern methods to slow nearsightedness progression. She is CRT (ortho-k) certified, MiSight certified, and licensed to treat glaucoma.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, as they try to keep up with her three active and independent-minded daughters.
